So the Peachtree Accounting System is very similar to quicken and quickbooks, at least from my understanding. Peachtree covers all the basic things, but it also does much more. It kind of reminds me of the things we did in my Access class. We made many forms and then we put together reports and such. But here are a few things that Peachtree does:

Powerpoint, Man there is so much to learn. For example, I had no idea that you could make a photo album with pp! I also knew that in excel you could do VBA; but I had no idea you could do write macros for all the other office products. But, I've started to take a look at the peach tree accounting system. I'll be using it a lot for my internship. I'll be doing payroll. I'm actually kind of nervous that I'm going to forget something during the internship. I'm really interested to see what is different between this and quickbooks. I took a class for quickbooks; but it was two years ago so I'm afraid I've forgotten most of it.

This week I worked a bit on Power Point. I hadn't really realized how much you can do with PP! It really is amazing. I think that there is still more for me to learn. So, for this next week I would like to stick to the PP and see what else I can find out. I have also started looking around at accounting jobs and what's available and what people are looking for. Since I'll be graduating in December, I want to be prepared for what is to come. I hope that I can be completely prepared for this. Honestly, I'm nervous. It's like we haven't been in the real world yet. Everything is about to change and there only so much we can do! Well, I better make the best of it. Right?

So, this past week I have been taking a look at excel and the uses of the formulas. It was interesting to see how it worked and to actually use the formulas. It was cool to learn about what was a better formula than another and it's been good to help me with some of my classes. This next week I am going to try to work on power point. I want to know more about power point and the cool little tricks that you can do with it. I want to be able to make a cool presentation but I still want to make the presentations professional. I want to be able to wow myself and others without being overly flashy. Having know how of Microsoft Office will definitely give me a lead against other possible employees for a company.

Ok, So this past week, I had been looking through excel, and realized I knew somethings about excel and other things that I didn't know. I had taken 333 which is a spreadsheets class, but it's more of a programming spreadsheets class. We learned how to write macros. I want to learn how to learn how to fully use excel so that I can just whip something up really quickly. So this week I spent some time playing around and looking at the help on excel. I played around with graphs and formatting the spreadsheet. I want to learn more about Formulas this next week so that I can know what is the best to use according to what I need. I have also learned to be more grateful. This weekend was a close friend's wedding. My husband, Brandon was the best man and I was just there to go to the wedding. It turned out I was a HUGE help. I took a major part in planning and doing her bridal shower a few weeks back and this weekend I ran errands and tried to help her calm down. I didn't get much sleep this weekend, unfortunately, but this was Danae's weekend and I wanted her to feel special. I did her hair for her because it was cheaper and I also did her makeup. Then I only had twenty minutes to get ready to go to the wedding. Brandon and I also had to make sure that we brought her wedding dress and Clint's (the Groom) Tuxedo. They were married in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple. She was gorgeous!! Although because parking was impossible to find and we had been running late because I was getting her ready this morning ( since 5 am), we didn't make it into the wedding in time. I was very disappointed. But, as soon as I saw her when she came out of the sealing room, I started crying like a baby. It reminded me of what my wedding day was like and how happy I was for them to have the Gopsel in their lives and that they will be blessed. I am so grateful for having the family and friends that I have, and that I have this gospel in my life, I know that it is true and nothing can ever change that.
May 30 - June 5
Ok, so I've been looking at the RSS feeds that I have. The one that is connected to DOLE isn't giving me anything related to Dole foods. It's giving me anything that has the world dole in it. Hence, dole money, and Senator Dole. So, I've decided I'm going to go with another company, Nestle. Nestle is one of Kraft's biggest competitors as well as Sara Lee and ConAgra Foods. I hadn't realized that Kraft was such a big competitor with Nestle. When I think of Kraft, I think of Mac N Cheese; when I think of Nestle, I think of chocolate. I'm going to have Sara Lee on an rss feed. As far as I could find, there wasn't an rss feed for Nestle. But, I had never realized what Nestle really owned; and the same goes for Kraft. I had no idea that Nestle owned Dryer's Ice Cream and Haagen-Daz Ice Cream! Wow.
So, this last weekend we had a family reunion and Brandon's Grandpa's Dry Farm. It was fun, until I got sick. But I volunteered to sing a special song on sunday, during our sunday school lesson. But, because I was sick, I couldn't. Although, I was proud of myself for volunteering. And, I've been thinking about the good qualities about myself. So that I will be able to sell myself when it comes to looking for jobs after I graduate. I've been trying to think positive so I don't put myself down. I am also starting a new diet and workout routine for Brandon and I to start working on. I'm really excited for this workout routine. I really want to loose some weight. I know that since I had my gall bladder taken out, I haven't been able to keep my weight down. I don't know what attributes to it, but I know my eating habits haven't been that great. But, I've got this all started out. And that's the biggest part.
May 23-29
So I wanted to push myself more to be more outspoken. I haven't been able to get a lot out edge wise in class. It's kind of hard, I was able to make a comment in class on the Apple case. I wanted to make more, but when I came up with a comment, the topic was changing to another topic. I think I've decided that I want to add another part to my individual project. I want to be able to sell myself for when I'm looking for jobs. I've been pretty hard on myself about a lot of things. I don't want to hold back so much anymore. One thing that I did to push myself out there was to volunteer. Every memorial day weekend we have a family reunion on my husband's side of the family. We are out in the middle of nowhere really and we have a church meeting on Sunday. So, for this Sunday, I volunteered to sing a special song. It was really hard for me to put myself out there like that. I like to be a semi-private person when it comes to things like that. I don't even really like to talk in front of large groups. So, this is a start for me. I think that this next week I'm going to try to make at least two comments in class.
